Alan posted the news on his club forum but I didn't want anybody on Blue Cavern to miss out on this information either, so here are the names of the 2012 smurfs as announced on the British Smurf Collectors Club

20736 Swimmer
20737 Weightlifter
20738 Beach Volleyball
20739 Relay Runner
20740 Gymnast
20741 Sprinter
20742 Shotputter
20743 Rider
20744 Javelin Thrower
20745 Winner

It will be interesting to see if these are new molds..or old molds or a combination of both. I assume they will be new molds as I can't see Schleich re-release some of the supersmurfs.

If they did though, I'd be over the moon :) For me even old molds with new markings are new smurfs...I know I am crazy

Hi Maureen

So we didn't hear it here first

I sure hope they make new models, because a lot of them sound familair ......

If the old one would be repainted i would be very disapointed :-?

So I guessed right... Olympic Smurfs! :-D

I think that they will no longer make super-smurfs, but more detailed 'simple' smurfs, so we will get new versions of the old ones and I will be very disappointed if they are old molds.
I'm very pleased there are 10 new releases, maybe they will be put in a box resembling a track and field stadium!

Great news!! :D

And the sportsmurfs also tend to get many variations. Like teamcolours, countrycolours etc.. :-D So lets hope for many genuine promos also. :o

This must be a perfect opportunity to make olympicteamcolours for, for example, Belgium. As "mascots". :D

Just spoke with Dyar about the new smurfs and he brought up a good point that I hadn't thought about it before...since these are all getting new numbers, they should all be new molds :D

Really looking forward to seeing some pictures in a few weeks

I'm wondering whether they will be in fictitious team colours or in colours either of the UK team or other participating countries.

I like the idea of sport themed smurfs & can imagine them selling quite well especially to members of sports clubs & fans of the olympics :D

By the way I'm neither a sports club member nor a fan of the olympics but what the heck, I like smurfs :) :) :) :)

I think they will be neutral colors like the soccer smurfs a few years ago.

If they do them in special country colors there would be countries that complain about being left out...can't see the French buying smurfs that are in the US or UK colors for example :) :) or vice versa.

And I can just hear the outcry if these are done in the US team colors  :) :)

I would like an Olympic smurf team, maybe even based on that Olympic smurf comic book

Sounds great! Looking forward to these, and love it that there's 10 (even though that means it'll be more expencive to get them ;) ).

And maybe now the voleyball super won´t need to play alone anymore. :-D :-D :) :) :)

I like the idea of them being based on the comic, that would be cool! :D

hmmm.. I agree on the neutral teams, but i wonder with Smurfs being in the spotlight now if they might look at doing retailer exclusive items with certain country colors. I didn't think this was the kind of thing Schleich would do, but recently toys r us has had several Schleich non smurf items labeled as only available at Toys R Us

Was just looking at the names again and noticed that none of them has been identified as a smurfette....wonder which of those will be smurfette :-?

Speaking of exclusive, the smurfs grab ems were supposed to be exclusive to Toys R US acording to them but if that be the case why did I find them in Target.......lo.l I can't wait to get the new smurfs as well as the older ones too.
