Um, I am happy to see of course the new Smurfs for 2012. They look good, as usual.
But I am somewhat disappointed in a few things. Why three Smurfettes on 10 figurines ? I think that's a bit too much. However, I like the gymnastic Smurfette. The medaille winner is a very nice original one.
Also I think the swimmer and the sprinter are not very original, we've seen them before. On the other hand, swimming and running are two disciplines that are on top of the Olympic list, they can't be skipped. But some different mold would have been appreciated.
Also, you could say that the weightlifter and the horseriding Smurfs are just remakes from the old supers, but I like them. Once again, two disciplines in the Olympic games that can't be left untouched. But then I think it should've been better to produce 12 figurines. The Olympics have tons of sports that can be translated in a figurine. 2 more wouldn't harm...(please no soccer, we've seen enough of them before).

Anyway, it seems that the last few years they are sticking to themes when making the new figurines (soccer, Indians, 2x movie Smurfs, Zodiacs, classic Smurfs, anniversary Smurfs...)...
Well, I wonder how long they can find ideas for this... I that case, I have a few for them. It would be nice to see another classic serie again. There are enough "main" Smurfs to put into a new form again (handy, hefty, clumsy, greedy, painter, poet, farmer..., those who played the main roles in the original comics long ago).
Another serie I would like to see one day is Smurfs in typical international dresses, like Scottish (yes, there was one before), Japanese, Chinese, German (yes this too...), French, US, Eskimo, Indian (naaaaaah, not another native American, I mean the Asian ones), and so on and so on... For example, I can't wait to see Smurfette in such a sexy Chinese dress
;-)
Just thinking.

Do you think it is a coincidence that the sprintersmurf has the same national colours as the number one sprinter Usain Bolt??? :-D :-? With GOLDSHOES just like Usain!!!! For me that is a bit to much of a coincidence!! 8-)

Who would you say the other ones "could" be with a bit (or very much) imagination??

Looks like only the one Usain sprinter is wearing the gold shoes, the other one on the picture looks to be wearing white shoes.

Maybe the sprinter smurf IS the Usain sprinter with gold shoes :o

yes Maureen,

for me he is! Usain has many times run with golden shoes.

So why would Schleich paint him with those colours otherwise??

That is probably a very intentional choice to sell more sprintersmurfs when the olympics starts.

They probably have a thought behind the colours, because Schleichs aim, just like almost all companies, is to sell as many as possible. :-D

The gold medalsmurf should off course be painted blue and yellow, as the swedish athletes. We will probably only get one medal like this smurf??? :-?

Well,
about the sprinter smurf, no doubt that it remembers Usain...
My friend Powell (during summer he lives and trainees close to here) uses different colour shoes :)
By the way, the producer of Bolt's GOLD shoes (****) gets good advertisment from this smurf.
As Italian Veteran Champion on 100 m. I think I'll present lots of this figurine to sprinter friends! :D

it would have been great a black smurf figurine running.
Not purple !
but black smurfs are politically incorrect... :scared:
