I was thinking of alternative domain names for my website if I was forced to change the schlumpf bit.. and given its called "Smurf Weekly Magazine" SWM seemed a logical enough answer.. except.. SWM could also be Single White Male!!! hmmmm.. it got me thinking "just how do smurfs have personals adds?"
sbs seeks sbs - Single Blue Smurf seeks Single Blue Smurfette?
sbs seeks sbs - Single Blue Smurfette seeks Single Blue Smurf?!?
sbs seeks sbs - Single Blue Smurf seeks Single Blue Smurf !!!!! Vanity smurf uses this when he writes letters to himself (using his own brand of self addressed envelopes)
sbs seeks sbs - Single Blue Smurfette seeks Single Blue Smurfette!!!! well given there is only one smurfette this just is silly!
But it highlights the complexities of smurf dating. I'm sure there have been more disappointing and embarising encounters due to this confusing problem. And I thought human dating was difficult!
Any thoughts?????

My sister assures me that Vanity Smurf is gay.
As for smurfette, in some of the cartoons, there have been hints that she and Hefty are a pair. It's very subtle though. Like, she'll be in trouble and inevitably calls for Hefty. Hefty also looks out for her welfare far more assertively than the other smurfs. Maybe it's a big brother thang. But, I never believed that big brother crap in college ("Really, he's just a very good friend of mine. You shouldn't be jealous just because I'm waiting for him to make a move on me so that I can dump you.")
Brainy, on the other hand, is asexual. Though I heard there was a dropped episode in which he wound up married to Nanny Smurf. You know the sort. "Frank, I don't have any problems with you marrying a woman twice your age, but do you have to call her Mom in front of me?"

Oh.. I think its all very complicated. And now with Staci's revolation that sbs could include Sassette.. this opens up a whole new can of worms..
smurf seem sassette (cradle snatching)
sassette seeks smurf
smurfling seeks smurfette (mommy fixation)
...
all in all it does lead to anonimitty for smurf dating.. know one knows whos who and what they want. Although Papa smurf may stand out somewhat..
"Single blue Papa Smurf seeks younger female companion for long moonlight walks, deep conversations and book reading!".. yeah right!!!!

I never brought the whole Vanity being gay thing. He's too self obsessed. I think his ad would be something like-
sbs seeks sbs (single blue smurf seeks single blue self)
It has been reported online that Brainy and Clumsy are a couple, but I don't buy that either.
I've just realised I don't have a date for new years eve!

I'd better place my ad.
sbs seeks sbs (single brummy smurfette seeks single bookworm smurf)

I don't buy Clumsy and Brainy being a couple either. Clumsy strikes me as one of those dim guys who latches onto a smart friend, while Brainy is that sort of intellectual-but-insecure sort of fellow who can't relate to people he feels are a competitive threat to him. Thus, his closest friends are people he more or less can completely dominate, guys like Clumsy who are willing to accept him as the "master." As for sexual orientation, I suspect Brainy has a mad crush on smurfette, but would tell you she's not his type (rather than admit he lacks the social skill to compete with Hefty). Nanny, being significantly older than him, likely wouldn't see his arrogance as a threat to her--thus, she'd tolerate it in a sort of motherly patronizing way because Brainy is good-looking and young.
My sister calls Vanity gay largely due to his accent. "Oh my HEAVens, you are SOOO right. This hat looks ABSolutely SMURFY on me."
But, yeah, I'd agree, "asexual" is probably the best word for Vanity since I doubt either Smurfette or Hefty interest him.
Have you, Brainy's Babe, given Handy much thought? He's an engineer and probably equally educated as Brainy, who is a liberal arts scholar.

Wow we are psycho-analysing the wee critters really well ... all I know is when I go out (and take a smurf with you.. as ya do) They smurf gets all the female attention and the the guys stay away.. excellent for me except for the fact that I'm upstaged by a 2 inch piece of plastic! Oh gosh now with that confession you'll start psycho -analysinig me!!! Its not good.. I suffer from low self esteme due to my problem with smurf envy.
Brainy's Babe.. well at least you're going out new years eve.. I'm working 6am new years day for the 8th year in a row.
Silly Blue Single seeks Sexy Buxom Smurfette for new years eve moonlit chat (probably of Sober Boring Selfpitty).
