Hi Guys,

Long time no speak to! Things have been extremely busy in my life and my smurf hobby is literally not existent.

I need to run something by you all (Karen I hope you don't mind, as it is a great service to the community) I am thinking of running a free smurf auction website. An alternative to EBay but JUST for smurfs and smurf related goodies. If would be entirely free to buy, sell, list etc. I thought it would be nice to offer something back to the community for the last 2 years of all your help. I feel that I have never ever given anything back to the community. Since I already have a dedicated server, it would almost cost me nothing to setup. It would only be an auction website and won't include forums.

All I am asking is for your support and help by listing your smurf on this website.

Hi Med, I have seen this tried before and to be honest it wasn't successful at all. I think because Ebay is so big and has been around for so long they trust the way it works and know that many people are going to see their items for sale. In theory it is a nice idea but at the end of the day, it is going to be a lot of work for free for the person running it and a lot of headaches in the process. Just my opinion. :-?

Are you still collecting? I have noticed your auctions and just wondered if you were giving up the hobby?

I think a little patience might be in order, I am sure comments like that are not going to encourage people to reply! :-?

Nice idea, but I must agree with Rachel. Ebay is too big to ignore. It won't help even if we set our smurfs to your place. :daz: Quite the contrary!

Well here's my 2 cents worth. While I think its a nice thought and in a world where you could trust people to do the right thing it would be ok but seriously where is the guarantee that after you've paid the goods will rock up? I know ebay isn't perfect with that either but at least theres a feedback system and some protection if you pay by paypal. Or if its over $25 the ebay buyer protection service.

I know that may sound like I'm paranoid but I have been ripped off on ebay a couple of times and there are quite a few losers out there who like to rip people off.
