Hi all,
Here's some news about the new McDonalds Happy Meal smurfs for 2005, available now in Germany.
There are 6 different ones, each with an accessory & the happy meal box is shaped like a castle:-
Burgfräulein Schlumpfine = Castle Maiden
Wach Schlumpf = Sentry Smurf
Drachen Schlumpf = Dragon Smurf
Schwert Schlumpf = Sword Smurf
Beschützer Schlumpf = Protector Smurf
Boten Schlumpf = Messenger Smurf
They can be seen at
www.mcdonalds.de
click on 'kids & familie', then on 'happy meal'
to see the TV advert click on 'spot'. It takes a while to load but is quite amusing.

Hi Tojo
Is it possible to buy all of these at once even without the food? I would like to get a set of them and was just wondering if someone could buy them all at once or will they be released one at a time each week?
Thanks
Dyar

Hi Dyar,
they're all out at once & can be bought at once. The problem is that although they've only been out for a few days they've nearly all sold out. I tried last night to get the smurfette but there's not a smurf chick to be found
I reckon someone's buying them all up so they can make a killing on ebay. This happened last year when the hotwheels cars were out. There were only 4 different ones but I only managed to get 3 of them... sold out in next to no time.

Hi Tojo
Yes I can see that happening with everyone buying them up so they can charge poor Dyar squillions of euros for a set....lol....it's actually quite clever but very mean too.
I might interupt Ronald at the next children's party and see what he can do for me. If he doesn't help me I will join forces with Hamburgler and nick all of the cheeseburgers...or worse still...I will contaminate the cheeseburgers by adding in 3 pickle slices to each burger which will make them uneditable or very tedious to remove. It's the equivalent of holding a nuke these days because if you hold Maccas ransom then you have control of the world.
I am not very convincing at doing an evil laugh so everybody please use your imagination when I....muehahe.....DOH....[insert really evil laugh of apocalyptic demonic proportions here]
The Dyarvil & MephiSydollies...or is that Mephisyhallis

oops sorry Syd

LOL
I was at a McDs yesterday & they had a huge kids birthday - mostly all girls. They had nearly the whole stock of smurfs between them & being girls they nearly all had to have the smurfette. Grrrrr! They only had 3 out of the 6 available. In the evening I went to Frankfurt main railway station & the McDs there had only 3 different ones. I've managed to get 5 of 6 with a few doubles for the kids but I don't reckon the stocks will hold out long.
I think the re-showing of the cartoon series on TV has caused a mad rush for smurfs. McDs also had a special deal on the happy meals - buy 2 get them for about 2/3 the price.
Still it's good to see the smurfs are still popular.

I got a set of these McD's smurfs today although they are of course still in Germany and will be added to one of the next packages coming out this way. I am really happy about that as the price on ebay will go pretty high...why dosen't the rest of the world get these types of things...or more to the point Australia...lol...nah I would share them with some places overseas....maybe even Tasmania.

I hope these come to Finland some day... Are these like "normal" smurfs or like the piretes a while ago?

Hi Yonna
These are more like the Pirates that were being sold last year in Germany. Personally I wish they were like the normal PVC as they are nowhere near as nice but it's still better to see bonus smurfs sold like this than not at all I suppose.

Blääh!!

I too would have wanted those to be normal cv smurfs. Well if those items come to Finland I suppose I would buy them. Since one item in McDonalds costs something like 1€ if you don't take the meal...

In that case I would probably eat the smurfs as they taste a little better and are probably better for you....and they have no hidden pickle surprises.

Hi Yonna, hi Dyar,
these smurfs are indeed like the prates from last year. They are much lighter in weight, the blue is a bit lighter in colour & the heads turn. Unfortunately, the mould line goes right down the middle of the faces - right between the eyes. Shame about that. The accessories are quite nice too (my kids love them - chaaaarge, ataaaaack!! etc.) The McD's here in Frankfurt were selling them for €2 per toy withought a meal but I still had to check out 3 restaurants until I managed to get a couple of smurfettes (1 for me & 1 for my daughter). Phew, she was ready to kill me
Must admit I'm sick of McNuggets & fries. If I'm lucky I won't have to eat any more until the 2006 figs come out

You can buy
a set here, ships worldwide. From the pictures (I don't have either set), I like the pirates more than the castle ones. But it's good that they keep the Smurfs in the picture, and that they make a new set after the one from last year shows that the attention for them in Germany can't be that bad!

Gee your handy to have around Tojo.
I have been translating the other parts of the Katalog that I didn't do last year and decided to update the Promo section with the 2004 and the new 2005 McD's promo smurfs. I needed the names of the individual 2005 smurfs and on several pages I have looked I couldn't clearly read the names properly as they were a bit blurry. Then I remembered that the forum had a thread about them and better than that Tojo even translated the other half I couldn't read clearly so thanks Tojo for that post at the top of this thread...you made it very easy for me to complete this project.
D-D-Dyar.....hey it's still Stutterday isn't it?

Thanks Tojo, I will keep that in mind for the times I get stuck. I am getting better at reading German and can pretty much read the entire Schlumpf Katalog (German bits) without any help these days and I am practising writing in German to some people now although most of it is still in English as it is easier to read it than to communicate back...at the moment.
I know some German people use translations tools to communicate with me but often this doesn't make a lot of sense so I ask them to write it in German and so far that has been clearer for me to understand. I still have a long way to go before I can even pretend to be fluent but I have made it a goal to get better at it and hopefully I will know a second language over time which will have certain advantages when it comes to smurfs. The problem is forgetting the spelling of certain words too as I recognise it when I see them but it's trickier to start spelling them of the top of my head. Although I have noticed I have written the German translation at times instead of English by accident so i think that is a good sign.
Cheers
Dyar

WellI wrote my first full letter in German last night and the seller wrote back and asked if I was German?.....I took that as a good sign....unless he wantedto know from what planet my Germany was from...lol
Just because I keep forgetting....Linda, I have been told that you have a full set now so there is no need to worry

Thanks, Dyar. I really appreciate you getting a set for me. Just send me an email or PM letting me know the details for payment etc.
I haven't forgotten about the box either. I'll get around to photographing it shortly and email you a pic, along with a description of its condition.
Gotta get some school work.....gotta drag myself away from PC.......arrrgghhhhhhhhh.

Your German was probably better than mine
I hate writing in German as the grammar is a nightmare. It's bad enough having to know whether a noun is male, female or neutral but you then have to get the word endings correct. Aaaaaarrrrrgggghhhh! Still I'm getting better at it.
Schöne Grüße aus Frankfurt
