Question for variation collectors

For those of us who collect all kinds of variations, I have the following question..
How many decade boxes did you buy? Did you keep the smurfs in the decade box or did you take them out since these are new variations?
I still got mine in the boxes, but am seriously considering getting second boxes so I can take the smurfs out and put them with the other variations..as well as take decent pictures for the website.
Would love to know what other collectors have done with them

I kept them in the box but in fact, I would love to take them out to see the markings

I've still have to buy these and will buy two sets; one to stay in the boxes and the other to have loose. It's a dilemma. My head says buy one of each, but my heart (and variation collector side) says buy two.

I have only bought all the boxes and smurfs are inside...
I think I won´t buy another set of boxes to take them out, but I think it is because of the chrisis

I've got one of each of the boxes & am planning on leaving the smurfs in them. A second set would be too expensive to buy as they sell for around €17 each which is quite a lot considering how many sets there are... (I'd prefer to spend the money on some smurfs I don't already have).

Hi Maureen
Even if i would have 4 sets, i don't think i will take them out.
In a few years time you will find a lot ( i hope ) of them on fairs or fleamarkets.
It's going to be a sport to find them........................

I think the good thing with the Schleichboxes, from all the years, is that they are very easy to open and then close again without ruining the box. I always open the boxes, but carefully. Like with the windmill, houses etc. No point having them if you can´t feel and touch them. But that is just my opinion. In some cases with other items it is not possible to open the wrapping. Like with the discosmurfette from Holland in magazine. I want to keep this one inside the bag so that I can see how it was sold. That is a item that will be very hard to figure out in the future how it was sold unless you have it together with a magazine. It is not in any Schleichcatalogue. Same with the new Puppy. It will be kept with the game and this way it shows how and when it was sold.
Same with the basf-smurf and smurfette( dinch and hexalotte). I printed out the webpicture when the CEO held that box and showed it on the pressconferance and keep it together with that box. This is the best way to show that the items are genuine in the future.
Regarding opening the decadeboxes it is very easy to do without making any big damage on the box. Just make a clean cut, like on the picture. I don´t think anyone should try to remove the seal because then the paper would probably loosen with the seal??? I just put them back again after checking them and it is very hard to see that I have had the box opened!

Are you able to put the smurfs back into the boxes?
I agree that the boxes are easily opened and closed back up...but putting the smurfs back in there and hooking them back into their place is an impossible task for my clumsy hands

they are not glued or something so it is not that hard to put them back exactly as they were before. It is just metalwire with plastic cover holding them so it is just that you have to place them as they were before and then twist the wire on the other side of the cardboard again.
