My neighbor brought me this smurf and my husband painted him for me. I think he got papa mixed up a little!! :) :)
I went out to pick some carrots this morning for a venison stew and I was surprised how big they were! I grew the dahlias too. I used to have over 30 dahlia plants but I downsized to 12 plants this year. They are a beautiful flower but a lot of staking involved and we wanted more room in the garden for vegetables this year.

Those are enormous flowers, Norma  And maybe papa just wanted to take a swim and shaved his beard for the occassion :) The ice cream cone is a great touch (or did he come that way?!)
:dory: Staci :dory:

He's very cute even if he's got a mixed personality :) :)

Very nice Dahlias, Norma. :D

Do you have to take them indoors during winter where you live?

Where I live we have to store them in the celler every year.

/André

PS. The smurf is lovely. :D DS.

Thanks! Staci, yes he did come with the ice cream cone, it looks like one of those yummy soft serve twist cones to me! My neighbor must really love me as she lugged it all around the flea mkt. with her. It's very heavy, I think it's made out of cement! :)
Andre, yes I do have to dig them up in the fall and store them over the winter. I stored 8 boxes full, and that was after giving away many of the tubers last year. I gave away all of the cactus flowering, pompom, and small flowering ones and only kept the dinnerplates. I like the dinnerplates the best!

Hey Stampysmurf,
I like your garden Papa Smurf. He looks like a young version of Papa Smurf. Congrats on getting him! I'm not into flowers but I've never
seen one that big.

That smurf is ace and I like his colours! I think red is better in the garden than white. :-D :) :) I think he's keeping an eye on your veggies and flowers!
