I just looked at the telephone smurf and noticed the gold/bronze paint had oxidized!! Very weird! Has anyone else had this happen??

It's not happened to any of my smurfs luckily but perhaps it's happened to yours because it's still sealed in it's bubble

No I have about 20 of those in that packageing but not the telephone Smurf. I have the king Smurf with gold hat, It looks fine. I looked at my telephone Smufs not in that packageing and they look fine also. I have never seen one do that. I wonder if they used some other kind of paint on it.

I was wondering about the paint myself, they say NON-TOXIC on them but ...... if the paint oxidizes I am wondering if it wasn't a lead based paint or at least a true metallic paint??

My guess is the painter of this Smurf ran out of the normal paint, and used some lead based paint they had on hand to finish the job. There might be more of these out there. Some might not ozxdize because they have to have humidity to make them oxidize. Yours must have been subjected to humidity at some point.

Oh!!!! I haven't seen anything like this before. I think, the material must have suffered from the temperature inside the bubble and thus the color started to sweat.

Oh yep and possibly to the Gold smurf (elder versions), too.

I think that has happened to one of my carded smurfs too - I will have to look but that looks familiar to me too
