I received a long awaited money bank this morning in the shape of a smurfy flying ace in his airplane. Sadly, it was broken. :( :(

Image

The seller had packed it in a box with newspaper, not marked it fragile, and then overcharged me for postage! :x Plus he'd put the value up to $100 (I paid $16!) and I had to pay a customs charge for VAT. :banghead: I'm not a happy girl!

Fortunately, I managed to glue the larger pieces back together so, although now worthless, he will display nicely.

I don't think I'll be buying from Canada again in a hurry. I'm fed up of the wait and then things like this happening. :( :(

Still, at least I can enjoy this view of him. :D

You did a great job on that Hilary!
Without the first pics, one can`t notice that it was broken!

But that seller deserves a negative feedback( if he doesn`t return you the money)

I hope you get your money back from this deal and sent the broken photo to that seller and to paypal. It's appalling how incredibly stupid some sellers are out there

Thanks guys. I did send the seller the pics and I opened a dispute with Paypal to protect myself. Initially the seller refused a refund but since then he has refunded everything I paid him! I won't get the customs money back, of-course, but I am pleased, in the circumstances. I didn't expect this to be resolved today.

I shall turn this little guy to the wall where his scars can't be seen and I shall enjoy him for what he is. :D Thanks to all of you for the support. :world: :world:

I'm sorry to hear about the damage Hilary but at least glad that you got most of your money back.

Whenever I send something fragile overseas I make sure that I pack it with enough bubble-wrap & polystyrene wormy things in the hope that nothing gets broken (when I receive packages I always keep the packing stuff just in case I have to send something later).

Let's face it, newspaper isn't the best form of protection for a money bank  :x

Well he is lovely but sad about the breaking ... you'd have thought the seller would've taken more care.

Sorry to hear about that Hilary, but glad you got it resolved..some sellers don't deserve peoples custom
Long, long ago, deep in the forest, there was a hidden village where tiny creatures lived. They called themselves the Smurfs. They were good.

That is really awful Hilary. I have had a few packages like this in the past and it really breaks your heart when you get disappointed like this....the fact that the seller ripped you off and poorly packed the item (not to mention the extra customs expense  )......aarrrgggghhhhh

It looks like you did a great job on putting the pieces back together but I know that is only a minor consolation since it's hard to overlook the damage.

Here's a big  and hope this never happens again to you

Great job repairing it and getting the money back Hilary,

Regarding the customthing I now exactly how you feel since that happens to me a few times. Sometimes I pay more in customs because of handlingsfees, customs etc. then the smurfs I bought.

I think your smurf looks great now and I won´t tell anyone it is broken. :shhh:
