I had a topic on this but it must be long gone as I can't find it on a search. I'm always looking for new photos of these King's Island / King's Dominion rides. And a google search today found this!! Maureen!!! I found a SCCI newsletter on your website! It has a letter from the smurf collector that owns 7 of the display smurfs + a black and white photo of them on his diving board. thanks Maureen, that is a great find!
I just have to write and let everyone know about how great it is to be associatedwith this Club. About seven or eight years ago, before the S.C.C.I. was founded, I had a conversationwith Suzanne in which we discussed our favorite and mutual interests in our beloved Smurf collections. In the course of this conversation, we discussed the fact that I had contacted all of the Amusement Parks that featured Smurfs. I expressed a desire to obtain any or all of their Smurf displays etc. if and when they were no longer used at their Theme Parks. My idea was to display these items around my pool; to extend my collection to the outdoors. Last Spring the Club was contacted by Kings Island in Ohio. In their theme park they featured Hanna-Barbera Land. Included in this section of their park was the Smurfs Enchanted Voyage...."Take to the waters for a magical, musical adventure through a wonder-land of Smurfs." The Park advised Suzanne that they were dismantling this section of their Park and would be selling all of their fiberglass 3' to 4' Smurf figurines made for their Smurf village. Amazing but true: Suzanne remembered our conversation of so long ago and contacted me with this exciting information. I am now the proud owner of seven of these figurines and I would like to share them with all our members! Below is a photo of my new acquisitions displayed on my diving board. These are the greatest! ! Needless to say. I am now in the process of attempting to acquire more of them for my display. An ever grateful member! Gary from N.J. S.C.C.I. Board of Directors Member

For anyone who hasn't seen the theme park ride photos or there might be a few new ones that I've added, they are all located here:

Thanks for bringing up this topic again Brad as I loved looking at all of those photos before.

I would have loved to have visited those parks.

:) :) :)

You are welcome, Brad :-D . It's amazing what you can find in the letters, and it's really cool you found them by googling for information about the park :-D

And yes, thank you for finding all those pictures. Do you ever think about putting them on your website with some information you have found about the park or would that be a copy-right issue? :-?

Hey Maureen. I've started to download a few of the SCCI club letters, I think they'll be a great and interesting read. Thankyou for posting them.. I didn't see them when you originally posted them. But the page regarding the KI smurfs I found in a google search and realised it was your website. I'd love to get my hands on those display smurfs as I'm sure everyone would. That Gary was lucky to buy 7 of the smurfs. Wonder at what price he paid. The smurfette seems to be the one that was permanently fixed to a park bench outside the Smurf Mountain ride

I had thought about adding a page to mysite with all the photos I've collected and information on the rides but none of the photos are mine so I probably shouldn't. I have a post on Mushroomvillage forum that has got a lot of attention with quite a few posts from people who remember the rides and have shared their memories of them. These are always nice to read.

That Gary guy probably got them for a very good price since it seems he bought them right as they were closing the ride down.

I wonder if he still has them or if he since sold them.

I wouldn't mind getting one or more of them myself, but doubt I ever will...I simply wouldn't have room for them :???:

That's interesting, next time I go hiking I'll take some prints of the newsletters with me, if that's okay with you. Maybe I can even transfer them to my phone. Somehow? Sorry for my English good night. 8)
