Hello all you Smurfers out there.

I have been visiting many of your Web sites and think that they are very Smurfy.

I am thinking of starting one of our own.

We would like to have our own Domain Name.

What is the best Software to build your Web site ?

Any information / advice would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I tried sending a Word Doc through this forum and it was denied. How do you share Smurfy Documents ?

Happy Smurfing,

I have no own domain name and I do not need one.

I use the software JAlbum and Yahoo site builder.
Jalbum is a free software and the look and feel for me is great..

Hi Handy and Harmony,
I think most of us use Yahoo geocities...you can do it for free but it has adverstisement. I chose the plan with a nominal monthly fee since I wanted an ad-free website, but it is up to your own preference.
With my plan I can use the yahoo sitebuilder which also works offline and you don't have to download all the changes right away.

there is one plan available for less and you can upload your pictures thru yahoo. It works fine also and a lot of us use that one.

When you go thru Yahoo geocities, you will be able to pick your own domain name. From what Rachel told me having your own domain name comes in handy in case you want to switch plans later on, since you can take it with you.

Rachel is a really great source at helping out with a lot of helpful tips when you start out..I know she gave me a lot of helpful hints..and still does.

I am not sure about the word document...you may have to scan it and put it on as a picture attachment :-?

A Smurfy Thanks

Hi Handy & Harmony, good to hear you are thinking about making a site, the more, the merrier. :-D

As Maureen mentions, Yahoo Geocities is a good start, especially if you have not built a site before. Persoanally I would recommend if you are going to buy a domain name (you don't HAVE to have one to start with) buy it from a seperate source as it does make life easier if you decide to move the site in the future. There are many many sources to buy domain names, I use - http://www.lowcostnames.co.uk/ - this is UK based but there are way more in the USA too. :D
