Shame on you Dyar,

as punishment:-
write in no less than 100 words why you shouldn't have to send your entire collection to a certain address near Frankfurt. Include diagrams.

Reading those decsriptions (and assuming they are accurate), I would say that there are some big differences between the books and the cartoons (I mean King Smurf and Astrosmurf, the other stories are at first glance cartoon-only). I'm not going to point them all out, but I just wanted to say that even if you have seen the cartoons, it's still more fun to read the books (they are better drawn as well :) ). And the old figures (pre-1981) are all based on the comic books anyway :-D
I can go either way with the cartoon or books. I just only wish they were still in stock in The US. The books haven't been sold here in huge quanties for a very long time.
Friendship is everything.

I was in my local Chinese takeaway yesterday & came across this freebie postcard advertising the new German DVD's. Unfortunately they only had 2 otherwise I would have taken the lot. :)

The front says, "Let me be your Smurfette!"

and the back shows the 2 formats - 3 individual DVD's or a box set with all 3 in it.

That's a very nice postacard Tojo and those DVD sets look really nice too. Very happy for all of the little and big kids in Germany :D

That's a great postcard. Cute Smurfette!
Those DVDs look very good.. great cover art by the looks of them.
Do you know if your release has the episodes in order??

Brad.

Postby Tojo » Sat Nov 19, 2005 12:36 pm
Hi Bradley,

judging by your listing of the DVD's (& I'm assuming that the numbers next to them are the orders of original release) then they aren't in order.
I posted which episodes are on the German DVD's just after your post so you can see what's on them.

I've just found a good episode list here which has the titles in both German & English:-

I've been to the Chinese again, there's nothing like a good portion of fried noodles :D , & this time they had a different freebie postcard. Again they only had 2 left (they must be popular!) so I grabbed both & made a run for it :)

The front of the card reads, "I love surprises!"

I wonder whether there are any more cards in this set? I'll keep my eyes peeled. Have they been advertising in a similar way in Australia or the other countries where the DVD's have been released?

I would of nicked any cards I could find too Tojo :D

These are really nice postcards to have and what better way than to enjoy a beautiful Chinese meal to get them.....(I think this thread will now make me hungry everytime I read it....I have a weakness for pizza and chinese food).

We didn't have any promotion as far as I know for the DVDs...infact I asked some people in the shops and they hadn't even taken much notice of them either. However they must sell ok as I had trouble finding the early ones when I went looking for them and ended up going to about 5 different places to secure the last 4 I needed. We had nothing as far as promotion goes but I would love to get some of these postcards...let me know if you find more of them or other places where they are available as I might treat my friend over there to a meal if he grabs some for me. :)

Let us know if you find any different ones too as these are really nice to see. I wish they did something similiar here.

I'll keep my eyes open :eye: :eye:

These free cards come in all varieties & are often found in restaurants, launderettes etc. - mostly where younger people tend to meet. Some are arty but most are advertising some product such as the latest CD or DVD from someone (or in this case some blue chappies, oh & a chapess) or cigarettes (eg. Camel), chocolate etc etc. I'm hoping they might have some more smurfy cards at my takeaway. Fingers crossed...

We have a lot of them here too Tojo in cafes and art galleries etc...seems like the same type of marketing.

Those cards are great Tojo.
Looked at your list of episodes that are on the dvds but I didn't have much luck translating the episode titles.

The best meal I've had all year was chinese. My Mothers birthday dinner back in May. Hadn't had chinese for quite a while so it tasted bloody beautiful! I pigged out big time. We all ordered a heap of dishes to share around, the best way to do it!

Brad.

04 Die Schlümpfe und der Heulvogel (The Smurfs And The Howlibird)

Volume 2:-
01 Verhext, verbrüdert und verschlumpft (Bewitched, Bothered, And Besmurfed)
02 Die rosaschlumpfige Brille (Smurf-Colored Glasses)
03 Schlumpfsuppe (Soup A La Smurf)
04 Die große Fusselplage / Es ist nicht alles Gold, was schlumpft (Fuzzle Trouble / All That Glitters Isn't Smurf)

Volume 3:-
01 Schlumpfines Tanzschuhe (Smurfette's Dancing Shoes)
02 Der falsche Schlumpf / Das Kuckucksei im Schlumpfnest (The Fake Smurf / The Baby Smurf)
