I just came across this post at Brothers Brick (a Lego blog), where someone built a diorama of a Smurf village in Lego, complete with custom made Smurf minifigs. Looks pretty good! There's also a video interview with the creator where he talks about the team and what they made and how they did it.

Looks great, thanks for posting. :-D

I don't like the figures though, head looks "silly"... Rather have the MegaBlocks Smurf figures honestly... however... you "can't" use MB figures on a LEGO exhibit... :o

I believe they actually made parts of the Smurfy minifigures, and bought other parts from another company that builds custom parts (reasonable market for that these days). I think they're OK for what they are.
