I am not sure this story is really that funny, but I did have to laugh in the end.

I won a nice lot of about 30 smurfs, 4 PEZ dispensers, a kinder tower, 2 kinder smurfs, several Ertl cars and one clown on clover leaf (which is why I bidded on the lot) the other day and it arrived today. It came in a box that was sealed, and my mail carrier apoloziged for it saying she didn't know what happened. I didn't really know what she meant as all seemed fine with me, the only thing that was odd was that the seller had taped a padded envelope (or part of it) on top of the box to write my name on it as well as the postage.

I opened the box and was amazed that a seller can just throw all of this together in a box with no padded or protection.

here are the pictures (from ebay) of what was in the box, so you can understand my amazement...

A piece was broken off the clover leaf, so I contacted the seller to tell her of it and also to tell her that I was disappointed how she shipped it.

Her response was simple...she had no idea what I meant as she didn't send it in a box but in a padded envelope as this would make the shipping cheaper (she didn't overcharge me on shipping) and would be much safer than a box (Huh? ) and had no idea what the postal service did when they put it in a box.

Quite frankly, I was so amazed at her ignorance of thinking that she could send this lot in a padded envelope from Canada and it would arrive at my place in one piece....I just had to laugh.

I replied, saying that she is very lucky that the package didn't get lost as it apparently did get ripped apart..and that she also was very lucky that it was handled by a postal worker who cared enough to put it in a box and sent it on to me..and not return it to her

What are some people thinking? :-? How can you ship a lot like this off in a padded envelope thinking this is safer than a box?

BTW..I would believe in the innocence of the seller, if it wasn't for two facts...she did mention that some of the smurfs are incomplete in the auction...and that the clover leaf was "cracked" but forgot to mention that the fishing rod was torn (notice the smurf in front of it so you can't see the whole rod on the picture) and also that the clover leaf is actually broken (again notice the kinder smurf conveniently placed in front of the broken place of the item so you can't see it)

Has anybody else had similar "laughable" dealings with sellers?

It's a shame that people can be so ignorant. :x I've mostly been very lucky with what I've received, smurf-wise, from ebay although I do wonder sometimes how things get to me in 1 piece! Hope you get some sort of refund from her Moey. :D

That is absolutely ridiculous

What on earth was she thinking :o

I haven't had anything like that happen but I did win a Bico surf pendant once that looked perfect on the photo & the description sounded fine. When it arrived it looked like the pendant had been found on a beach somewhere as it was badly scratched & mauled & was anything other than in good condition. It only cost me a couple of euros so it wasn't tragic but I mentioned it to the seller & he replied, "I thought it was supposed to look like that" :) :) What a bozo :o

No, it's all or nothing with the seller. She told me I could get a full refund if I return all of the smurfs..but quite frankly I didn't pay that much for it, and it's not worth the hassle or return shipping costs (not refundable)

I also checked some of the smurfs and think I found variations that I didn't have, so it really is not a loss even if I didn't get what I wanted.

I was just so amazed at her "ignorance" regarding what she considers safe shipping material that I had to laugh.

Tojo, the seller in your story seems to perfectly fit in with my seller  :)

The seller must have been nuts to send them in an envelope without using protection.  :banghead:

Not a total loss then Moey, but a seller to avoid, I think. :D
