Currently at Hobby Lobby (at least at ours) there are cute little "bald wood" (unstained, unfinished wood, raw wood) "knick knack" hanging wall boxes. They have 15 open spaces just the right size for most smurfs to fit in, and a sloping roof with an extra area at the tip with cute "gingerbread" like molding..very quant! However, i needed mine to fit my glass tanks that I keep mine in..so I cut the roofs off and now have the entire top to put even more smurfs. They only cost $5.99 each and with the top cut off you can use them to display about twenty or so pvc's. (with the roof left on they can hold about 17 or more depending on if you decide to make the "attic" a home for your baby smurfs!)
My question: I got raw wood because I was worried about any kind of stain or wood finish eventually being absorbed by the pvc...but I'm still worried that the raw wood will "dry" pvc out. I have no idea if this is actually true or not. So I wanted to come here and ask. Is it safe to display pvc smurfs on raw wood shelves?
I hope it is! They look GREAT!
Thanks!
Chris
PS. BTW: if i could have I would have left the little sloping roof (makes it look like a little German-ski-lodge type house with the gingerbread molding). I could also picture painting them and making them look like little Scandinavian houses too...if you can pick some of these shelving units up, they're in the wood isle at Hobby Lobby!
