Hello everyone!! Wake up! :coffeemachine: This could be intresting and new information for many of you collectors. :D

This box was released with 2 different front pictures. And also slightly different content.

As you see the first release of this box has the nationalmarked smurf on the front and also the "muster"-version of the petrolpump and "roof-legs"

The back of the box on these are as I told you before without the window on the playsets released before 1980. And if you have the first version it should only tell you that there are 6 playsets released on the back of the box. The first issue could also have been released with assembly instructions like the BP-playset for this smurf.

The later issues has the assembly instructions on the side of the box.

So these boxes are really different!!! :-D

The first box had this picture with the nationalsmurf and different "legs" for the roof. The smurf was also almost "painted" on the first box and not printed like later issues.

The second box with the window on the back was released with the picture on front that was exactly as the content and with a smurf without nationalemblem on top.

I want to show you these picture to explain the differences.

It is from playset 4.

First issue when only 4 playsets were released ( as on backside) was sold with white flower and without window on the backof box.

Second issue with window on the box was sold with yellow flower.
They also added the french writing " En conformite aux normes garantie par le fabricant" on the box.

The third version also had the english writing on the box and ages warnings.

So big differences!!! :-D At least for me.

Andre, does this mean they sold the white flower before the yellow one but put the yellow one on the box?

Thanks for pointing out the differences in the service station boxes. I was aware of the different greys..but didn't know about the different boxes. One more box to watch out for :-D

Great info André!
When I read this, I remembered that there was a post here about a petrolpump with a green connection from the tube ( instead of the usual yellow one) but I can`t find those pics anymore. Perhaps someone knows??

Great pictures Lia.

I have that BP playset picture too. :D

And when you think about this, it is actually possible to have 3 of this playset-boxes. One with BP-smurf on the front, one with National-smurf on the front and one with the regular smurf on the frontpicture. :-D

It is also always intresting to see pictures of promosmurfs on boxes or poster so we know they are genuine.

Alan, when you write wooden leg promo box. Do you mean the first issue I showed on the pictures or are there more boxes?

Good point Maureen. :D

I think it was like this if you compare Stefans great catalogues and booklet pictures, Gerdas homepage-poster with blue, red, white and yellow flowers from 1979 and other collectors posters and the boxes.

Before 1980 Schleich had both yellow, white, blue and red flowers for the gate and the mushroom. On both these boxes they used the yellow flower, but like with the roofcolours on the cottages they could have different colours compared to the picture on the front. The important thing is that these early flowers were always soft material.
If you look at the schleich booklet from 79 the white flower is with the mushroom playset and on other pictures it is placed with the gate. So I think you could get all colours in both playsets. My guess is that the red and blue flowers were only used for a very short time because they are so rare compared with the white.

One intresting thing is if you look at the W. Berrie catalogues from 1979 and 1980, they have the german playsets and cottages on the pictures. They have a white flower with the gate playset.
I think that before 1981 W. Berrie sold german boxes and german parts in the US. And that is the reason why you can get US boxes( with W Berrie articlenumbers) for playsets 1 to 4 printed in W. Germany and with german parts. Like on the picture of my playsets. For all these playsets I think you can find both versions, German- and Hongkong-made.

And the nice thing about this is that it could have been possible to buy a white flower in the US, but only in 1980. But they could off course also only have used yellow flowers in these boxes. :-?

Fabulous stuff Andre thanks

Never knew about the gold handle petrol pump etc..

The Shell petrol set would also be a lovely item too

Andre I still have the English super for you...

Postby André » Sat Jun 12, 2010 1:21 am
Hi Martin,

have you seen a Shell playset also??

Or is it just a "wet dream"? ( excuse my use of words! Couldn´t find anything more suitable word for such playset. 8-) )

Martin, send me a email regarding the super. I lost all my old emails.
I bought a Iphone for myself. And then I made excelfiles for my daily reports and one file with the basic data for the invoices. These I started to send after work through my iphone every day to my boss and to customers. Great to be able to use excel in the phone also. Because this "speeded" up the paperwork very much my boss told me he would pay for the iphone. :-D So I got some spare cash now, maybe I can use some for a UK-superbox? :-?

Martin, are you ready for Englands entry in the world cup today? I mean have you bought enough beer? :o  And they play against USA, so maybe Maureen should get ready also. Moonshine, beer or wine???

:) :) :)

Sorry to disappoint but in soccer/football terms my heart is still very much English :) ..can't get me to cheer for the US yet. I probably won't catch the game today since it will be afternoon our time and I have a lot of work to do again.

It's Germany/Australia tomorrow and I hope to catch that game. Since I started following Rugby League I got a bit of a weak spot for the Australian team as well.

The funny thing is since I became American, I catch myself cheering for the Germans more and more again :) :) :)

:backtotopic:

I remember seeing a picture of the Shell playset on this forum...Maybe Lia or Martin still have the picture and can post it here...if not, I may look for it tonight or tomorrow during the game (if I can catch it on the TV)
