I watched the Christmas Carol last night and thought to myself that this has the potential to become a yearly tradition like the Peanuts Christmas Movie or even the Grinch which are shown each year on TV. Not sure if TV stations will show it over here, but it would be nice....it's a cute little version of an old story :D

Hiya!!!

I just found out that German amazon offers a exclusive set containing the movie, the Christmas Carol and figurines as well. :D

Too bad that I can't use amazon at the moment. :(

My dvd arrived yesterday! Quick delivery from Amazon :D Very happy! Have to find time to sit and watch the movie but I popped the disc in yesterday and watched the special features and then the Christmas special. Loved the Christmas special!

I wasn't sure if I would like the movie or not, but my mom insisted that she wanted to see it. We got it earlier this week and she really enjoyed it. I had more fun with it that I expected. Maybe we'll watch the christmas one tomorrow.

They had the Smurfs Christmas Carol dvd in the supermarket Woolworths yesterday so I grabbed it there. It wasn't supposed to be out until end of week or next week so they must have had it in early. They have a $5 off the smurf movie when its released here next month 5th January when you bought the christmas dvd. And also yesterday I got in the mail a poster advertising the smurfs movie on dvd for australia. Haven't seen this poster in any stores yet. A seller on ebay had 5 or so of them selling. So thought I'd nab one.

Over here in Canada, the exclusives are like this:

Walmart(in-store and online): '3-Disc Holiday Blu-Ray + DVD Gift Set' box set that comes with plush backpack clip in shape of smurfs head
Best Buy(in-store only): purchase the '3-Disc Holiday Blu-Ray + DVD Gift Set' pack and receive a pack of activity sheets at check-out
Future Shop (an electronics media store exactly like Best Buy in the U.S.A.)(in-store and online): A steel case with an upper body shot of Clumsy on cover, waving.

The 3 discs for all of them are:

1. 2D regular dvd copy
2. 2D blu-ray copy
3. 2D regular dvd copy of 'The Smurfs: A Christmas Carol' (though in the Future Shop steel case version, this copy is in a loose paper disc slip, and does not have its own holding spot within the case, like the other 2 versions' cases at Best Buy and Walmart)

The special features are split between both the regular dvd and blu-ray copies. With these 3-disc packs, all known special features are available (unlike if you bought just the blu-ray, or just the regular dvd)

There is only one style of steel case or 'steelbook' (as some call it) available for this movie, worldwide. This steelbook is available only in three countries worldwide and in limited numbers:

Canada (online and in-store retailer 'Future Shop'); limited number is unknown to me, though I read online that it's most likely 1000

Italy (online only at wesite www.DVD-store.it); limited number is 1,500 and each steelbook has a tiny sticker on the front cover with a number stamped on it, telling you what number out of 1,500 you have.

Germany (retailers Mediamarkt and Saturn - don't know if their online stores will offer this as well; also, online at website www.amazon.de). limited number is unknown, though I read online that it's most likely 1,500.

Depending where it was bought, each of the steelbook content is different. The Canadian version details were already described above.

Italy: 1 disc - 2D blu-ray and 2D regular dvd on one disc.

Germany Mediamarkt/Saturn: 1 disc - 3D blu-ray and 2D blu-ray on one disc.

Germany amazon.de: steelbook packed in cardboard packaging along with 3 loose movie Jakks Pacific figures (same as what is currently in the market). They are Papa, Smurfette and Clumsy. 2 discs - 3D blu-ray and 2D blu-ray on one disc. The other disc has the 2D blu-ray 'The Smurfs: A Christmas Carol'.

Special features are included on both the Italian and German copies, but I don't know to what extent, unfortunately.

Hope this information helps. I may post pictures of these later, if they are easy to find on the internet.
