I was just wandering through this forum, checking out all the fun stuff, and I saw Steve's (?) flour/salt/water clay mushroom houses (love 'em!). I want to make some "scene sets" for my smurf collection, and I was thinking polymer clay would be the perfect medium - easy to work with, easy to store, and it's already colored so I wouldn't have to paint (I can do clay work, painting...not so much).

Has anyone tried this? I've got a couple sets planned out to start with...a baseball stadium, and a beach/lake set. Both sets will have riser steps or benches on the back and sides for smurfs not directly involved in the scene to stand on, so I can just switch out and store the scenes for different seasons, but not have to store the smurfs themselves.

Now I just need to decide which to start with...maybe the beach, since that will require less separate colors...

Hi Jamie,

I am sorry I am long in finding this forum, and hopefully you are still interested in making a Smurf Village and I am not too late. I am about to (soon) embark on making a Sumurf Village myself. A great place to visit to get info is Woodland Scenics http://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com. Here is an amazing video that uses newspaper covered with plaster cloth. Here is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54momizl0TM. I hope this helps.

Alfredo
Have a Smurfy day!
